Alexis Sanchez Dilemma – Stay Or Leave Arsenal?
Arsenal have been making the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Results on the pitch have been inconsistent and it looks like the Gunners will be missing out on the top four which would ultimately mean, NO Champions League football for Arsenal next season.
Further, it appears that there is a divide among the Arsenal fans as to whether Arsene Wenger is the right manager to lead Arsenal despite being one of their most successful and long serving manager in the club’s history.
It looks like all the uncertainty and poor results have now spilled on to the players at Arsenal and one players future has been thrown into question and its none other than Alexis Sanchez.
The Chile international joined Arsenal in 2014 from Barcelona for £31.7M making him the third-most expensive signing in the club’s history after Mesut Ozil and Granit Xhaka.
Recent reports suggest that the versatile 28 year old is unhappy at the club and has been recently linked with a move to Manchester City, Chelsea and PSG. It is also said that Italian giants Juventus are also interested and is keeping a close eye on the player’s situation at the club.
Can Arsenal Keep Hold Of Alexis Sanchez?
On their part, Arsenal are said to be prepared to make Alexis Sanchez the highest paid player in Premier League history.
Recent media reports suggest that the Gunners is drawing up Alexis Sanchez a £300,000 a week contract to convince the player to stay and ward off all interested parties.
It is said that the former Barcelona star is seeking parity with the division’s top earners — currently headed by Manchester United’s Paul Pogba on £290,000 a week — and it is understood the Gunners have now indicated they will shatter their wage structure to keep him at the club.
Mesut Ozil earns the highest weekly wage at Arsenal with £140,000 — Sanchez earns £130,000 — but the club are fearful of the impact of losing their best player to a major rival, leading to the unprecedented offer. It is believed that a similar offer to Ozil, who also has just over a year remaining, is a genuine possibility.
Will Alexis Sanchez Stay?
Well Arsenal certainly hope so. End of the day it all depends on the player and one thing is for sure, Arsenal’s poor performances and uncertainty surrounding the future of manager Arsene Wenger is definitely not helping the cause.
