Barcelona is undoubtedly the biggest football club in the world. And in their ranks, they have one of the best, if not the best player in the world, Lionel Messi.
However, it is now said that the Catalan giants are about to unleash their next big thing after Lionel Messi. It is none other than Gerard Deulofeu. Never heard of him? That’s fine because the youngster has only made 2 senior appearance for the Spanish giants.
Gerard Deulofeu, now age 18, was born on the 13th of March 1994 in Riudarenes, Spain. The talented youngster has played a total of 35 matched for Barcelona B scoring a total of 9 goals along the way.
There is a buzz surrounding this talented youngster for the coming season as it is believed that new coach Tito Vilanova is set to hand him more playing time next season. The main question now is Gerard Deulofeu is the next best thing to come out of the Barcelona youth academy. If you are being compared to Cristiano Ronaldo, i won’t argue against it.
So why are they comparing this youngster to world superstar Cristiano Ronaldo? On the physical sense, Deulofeu is almost the same height as Cristiano Ronaldo. At 6ft 0in, the 18 year old still has age on his side and develop a similar physique as Cristiano Ronaldo.
Deulofeu is also known for his speed and trickery with the ball. He has an excellent close control and his dribbling skills are almost similar to that of Cristiano Ronaldo. Being only 18 year of age, Deulofeu still has loads of time to develop himself and hone his skills before exploding onto a bigger stage with Barcelona.
So what can we expect from this youngster for the coming season? Will the new Barcelona coach give this talented youngster the chance to prove himself in a team filled with abundance of talent and world class players? One thing is for sure, all the big clubs in Europe are already keeping a close eye on Gerard Deulofeu and it is only a matter of time before the youngster starts making a name for himself.
