QPR 1-2 Arsenal – MATCH REPORT
Arsenal held on to beat QPR 2-1 at Loftus Road, despite a late rally from the home side.
Olivier Giroud broke the deadlock for Arsenal in the 64th minute after good work from Alexis Sanchez and Kieran Gibbs on the left flank.
Sanchez then doubled the scoreline five minutes later, cutting inside the box to beat two defenders and Rob Green in the QPR goal. The visitors began to look more comfortable, having under-whelmed in the first half.
QPR responded through Charlie Austin with ten minutes to go as the English striker pivoted on the edge of the area to unleash a fierce right-foot shot goalward.
Both sides were forced to make defensive changes in the first half as Arsenal’s Laurent Koscielny came on for Gabriel, who tweaked his hamstring, while QPR’s Nedum Onuoha had to be replaced by Clint Hill after a clash of heads.
Arsenal remain 3rd, while QPR are still very much in a relegation fight in 18th.
