When you talk about the best striker in the world, only one name stands out from the rest, Lionel Messi. Some may argue that Cristiano Ronaldo is the best striker in the world but it is our contention that the Portuguese is not a striker but a winger.
Coming back to our topic, who is the best striker in the world? Besides Lionel Messi there are a few other striker who we think come close to the Argentine ace. Take note that the following list is in no particular order or rank.

The Manchester United and England international striker has been a consistent performer for club and country throughout his career and the former Everton star scored a total of 35 goals in 44 appearance for Manchester United last season.
The list of the best striker in the world will not be complete without Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swedish international striker only recently moved to France with PSG but is known world wide for his pace and skill and deadly finishing. Zlatan previously played for Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona and AC Milan. Ibrahimovic has a total of 234 career goals in 490 appearance in all competition.
There will be no doubt in all football fans’ mind that Samuel Eto’o is definitely one of the best strikers in the world. The Cameroon interntional striker established himself as one of the most deadliest strikers in the world durong his time with Barcelona and Inter Milan. At the age of 31, Eto’o is currently plying his trade in Russia with Anzhi Makhachkala.

Napoli striker Edinson Cavani is rapidly making a name for himself as one of the best strikers in the world. The 25 year old Uruguay international striker has been prolific for Napoli and his exploits in front of goal has attracted interest from various European giants including Manchester United and Real Madrid. For the 2011/2012 season, Cavani scored a total of 33 goals in 47 appearance.
